"If we scientists can record these things, I believe with all my heart that the Lord God can keep a record of our thoughts."
The topic of how our thoughts effect our physical health (and our spirits) has been on my mind a lot the past several months. We all hear things like "quit talking so negative about yourself", "talk positive", "think happy thoughts", "if you keep saying that - eventually you're gonna believe it", "if you keep believing that - eventually it's gonna happen", etc... etc... etc...
I think there's much more truth to this than what most people realize. It transcends our limited understanding to a scientific & spiritual level both. And when our thoughts come into play, it not only effects our emotions & health positively or negatively... but it also is literally recorded in our personal record in our DNA and - (I personally believe) - in heaven.
Take a look at the 2 stories & accounts below:
Deepak Chopra, M.D., tells us in his book 'Quantum Healing' that many people still think the nerves work electronically. But in the 1970's a series of discoveries began, centering on a new class of chemicals called neuro-transmitters which transmit nerve impulses. They act as our body's communicators. Basically... the neurons of the brain can talk to the rest of the body. Neuro-transmitters race back & forth from the brain telling every organ of our emotions, memories, intuitions, dreams, desires, etc. He said that none of these events are confined to just the brain, & none of them are strictly mental, since they can be coded into chemical messages. Neuro-transmitters touch the life of every cell. Wherever a thought wants to go, these chemicals must go too. To think - is literally to practice brain chemistry, which promotes responses throughout the body. It helps fill the gap that apparently separates the ever continuing mystery of the mind and body connection.
Now for the nearly athiest scientist, Dr. W. Jerome Stowell. Though I'm not a total fan of the methods they used with the dying man in the 2nd case study, the results in both of Dr. Stowell's experiments are rather astounding. And so is his change of heart.
Dr. Stowell’s story:
“I was almost a devout atheist, I did not believe that God was any more than a conglomeration of everyone’s mind put together and the good that was there, that was God as far as I was concerned. As for the real, all-powerful God existing and loving us all, with power over everything, I did not believe that.
Then one day I had an experience that really set me thinking. I was in a large pathological laboratory where we were attempting to find the wave length of the brain. We found a channel of wave lengths, and that channel has a mach room (unit of measure) in it wherein the different wave lengths of each individual’s brain are further separated in identity more clearly than are the finger prints of each individual’s hand. This is a point we should remember: God can actually keep in heaven a record of our thoughts as individuals just as the FBI can keep a record of our fingerprints in Washington, D.C.
We wanted to make an experiment to discover what took place in the brain at the moment of transition from life to death. We chose first a lady whose family had sent her to a mental institution but who had been discharged. The doctors could find nothing wrong with her other than the fact she had cancer of the brain. This affected the balance of her body only. As far as her alertness of mind was concerned and in every other way, she was exceptionally brilliant. We knew she was on the verge of death and she was informed, in this research hospital that she was going to die.
We arranged a tiny pick-up in her room to ascertain what would take place in the transition of her brain from life to death. We also put a very small microphone, about the size of a shilling, in the room so that we could hear what she said, if she had anything to say.
Five of us hardened scientists—perhaps I was the hardest of the group—were in an adjoining room with our instruments prepared to register and record what transpired. Our device had a needle pointing to “0” in the center of the scale. To the right the scale was calibrated to 500 points positive, to the left the scale was calibrated to 500 points negative. We previously had recorded on this identical instrument the power used by a fifty-kilowatt broadcasting station in sending a message around the world. The needle then registered 9 points of the positive side.
As the last moments of this woman’s life arrived, she began to pray and praise the Lord. She asked the Lord to be merciful unto those who had despitefully used her, then she reaffirmed her faith in God, telling Him she knew He was the only power, the only living power. He always had been and always would be. She praised God and thanked Him for His power and for her knowledge of His reality. She told Him how much she loved Him.
We scientists had been so engrossed with this woman’s prayer that we had forgotten our experiment. We looked at each other and saw tears streaming down scientific faces.
Suddenly we heard a clicking sound on our forgotten instrument. We looked and the needle was registering a positive 500, desperately trying to go higher only to bounce against the 500 positive post in its attempt!
By actual instrumentation we had recorded that the brain of a woman alone and dying in communication with God had registered more than 55 times the power used by a fifty-kilowatt broadcasting station sending a message around the world.
After this we decided to try a case very unlike the first one. We chose a man lying in the research hospital stricken with a deadly social disease. His brain had become atrophied to the point of very death. He was practically a maniac.
After we had set up our instruments, we arranged for one of the nurses to antagonize the man. Through her wiles, she attracted his interest in her, and then suddenly told him she did not want to have anything more to do with him. He began to verbally abuse her, and the needle began to register on the negative side. Then he cursed her and took the name of God in vain. The needle then clicked back and forth against the 500 negative post.
By actual instrumentation we had registered what happened to the brain when that brain broke one of God’s Ten Commandments, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”
We had established by instrumentation the positive power of God and the negative power of the adversary. We had found that beneficial truth is positive, and the non-beneficial things covered by the “Thou shalt nots” of the Ten Commandments are negative.
If we scientists can record these things, I believe with all my heart that the Lord God can keep a record of our thoughts.”
A friend of mine posted on her Facebook page the following status:
"The most miserable people are the ones who know what they are doing wrong - but STILL DO IT!"
A big debate began, as to whether there is a "black and white" to what is right and wrong.
One person responded: "Who determines what is right & wrong? It really depends on what they are doing. Culture drives a lot of beliefs and what is right in one culture is not always right in another. You may believe one thing and someone else believes something completely different, but that doesn't make them wrong or miserable."

Respectfully, I don't agree with how she responded, so I commented back with my own thoughts. Thankfully, my friend that posted the original status responded to my comment with -"Perfect!!"
Here's what I said & how I feel:
"If the source of the choice is Light, then it's right. If the source of the choice is dark, or questionable, then it's probably wrong. It doesn't matter what one person's perception of it is. To them it may "seem" right or wrong, which is based on perception. However the Laws of God & the Laws of the universe are black or white no matter what. They're unchangeable. So yes, everything is black and white. We being here on earth base what we do & think mostly on perception, because of what we've learned from birth - from others.
Perception isn't perfection. Perception is earthly & temporal. Perfection is heavenly & eternal & what we're striving for. A person who can't or chooses not to follow a simpler law (of God or the universe, either one) will be more likely to see things as gray or in the middle. If they're striving to go above & beyond to always do everything that points to light & have the desire to follow the higher laws, there's usually no question as to what is right & wrong - or black & white."

I do feel though, that when something is good, there may be more than one way to do it. For example natural healing... Herbs may work best for one person, when essential oils may work best for another. Both are good, & either can be used. Another example... When we pray to Heavenly Father for something & have 2 choices, He may allow us to make the choice ourselves & not give us a direct answer on which to choose, because they're both good, and either one would benefit us. So then we choose whichever we want at that time.
And culturally, there may be different "good" things. One culture may eat a certain variety of whole foods, & another culture may choose to eat a different variety of whole foods, but they're both healthy. OR one culture may choose to dance & dress one way, while another culture chooses to dance & dress another way. And they both may be good - JUST DIFFERENT, because there is often more than one way to do something good.
But then there are those choices we make, that if they are not right... Then they are wrong. Period. No if's, and's, or but's about it. They're black & white according to the laws of nature - WHICH GOD FOLLOWS & always has. It's unchangeable.
If a person doesn't believe something is wrong, they may seem happy, or healthy, or content. But eventually - no matter what it is - if it goes against the Laws of God/Nature, the consequences will manifest.
So yes, I do believe there is always black & white, when it comes to right & wrong. In addition, if there is any question or doubt, or if there is a feeling of being unsettled about something, then get down on your knees and ask if it's right. If you receive peace, you will know it is right & in alignment with God's laws. The adversary cannot mimic peace. Peace is a most amazing gift.
I love this NASA photo. If you've never seen it before, it's called the "Helix Nebula" - or "The Eye of God. Every time I see it, I can't help but be reminded that God is in control. He sees the big picture. He knows all. He has a handle on everything. He wants us to be successful. He wants us to be happy. He wants us to heal. He knows us. He loves us.
While I don't intend this to be a religious environment, there are spiritual elements I can't ignore. I cannot have this website without publicly expressing gratitude to Him, who is my biggest supporter, the creator of this path I'm on, & the source of ALL healing & abundance.
Healing can mean being completely cured, having our burdens eased, or being given the understanding, courage, & strength needed to endure to the end. After years of scattered mental, emotional, & physical illness, and feeling hopeless, I finally laid my burdens at His feet. Today I'm still in awe of the healing, easing, understanding, & strengthening that He has given me, since the day I turned it over to Him.
Whenever I begin to lose faith, feel hopeless, or carry burden, I turn to Him for strength & continued healing, and I do my best to be grateful in all things, even when those 'things' are
really. really. hard.
I'm left speechless at the magnitude of His love, His influence, His vastness, His infinite power. I feel so tiny & insignificant in this never ending realm of existence, & yet I know that to Him... I am everything. To Him... you are everything.
I'm grateful to be an instrument in His hands, as I continue to help others in their healing journeys. I'm grateful for all of the many tangible tools for healing that He has made available to us including nutrition, holistic medicine, conventional medicine, energy work, prayer, faith, and all others.
Two questions I have been taught to ask myself in times of personal trial are these:
- Is there a potentially destructive pattern in your life?
- When discouraged do you feel overwhelmed - and in desperation seek for others to solve your problems, overlooking your own capacity to make much improvement?
(Richard G. Scott - "To Be Healed")
Whether your belief system is God, the Universe, Spirit, Intelligence, or another Higher Power, BELIEVE in your ability to heal & be abundant. The Source of Light & Love are endlessly liberating, empowering, & full of peace.
As I was writing this post today, I came across a poem written by my colleague & mentor, Marnie Pehrson. (Literally right in the middle of doing this post!) I think I was supposed to find it exactly when I did. She's given me permission to share it. I'm also including one of my favorite little 3 1/2 minute videos of all time at the end. "The Most Astounding Fact". I promise. It's worth it. More than 6 million others would say the same thing :)
Here's to you - and to me - in our journey - whatever journey that may be...
I keep going round in circles.
Will this challenge never end?
Why do my trials repeat themselves?
Not much more can I withstand!
Then I call upon the heavens.
God’s grace attends as I pray.
The lesson becomes crystal clear:
My thoughts do me betray.
I have expected to go in circles.
In my heart I did not believe
That anything could be different
And so my trials did I relive.
Now I will envision better paths
For my successful life to take.
In time I will expect the best and
A better life my thoughts will make.
For as a man thinketh
In his heart of hearts is he.
God grants according to desires.
What we expect will certainly be.
