If you follow my personal Facebook page, you might remember my "We just took one of the biggest leaps of faith we've ever taken. Talk about trusting God. Pheeeeew.....", status from a couple weeks ago.
Yah that one.
Well... My husband, Kirk, has worked for UPS for nearly 13 years. He's gone 14 hrs/night (5 nights/week) and he sleeps all day. We're lucky if we see him for 1 hr/day. There are some mornings, when we literally (no joke) pass by each other to catch a hug & kiss, as I'm waking up, & he's going to bed. Sometimes I cry...
And then we rush in the late afternoon to get him some dinner, put all his food together to last him through the night, & shove him out the door with more hugs & kisses. Then he would sleep half the day on Saturdays, after he'd get home from work.
Recently they decided to change his schedule on him. It would split our day completely in half, and he'd get home around 4:30am, with zero chance of seeing me & the kids, which would give us a grand total of about 20 minutes / day with him. Maybe.
The guys "bid" their yearly routes every April, according to seniority, and as depressing as it was, we decided to just have him stay where he was at, & go with their required changes, because no other route would work for us financially.
Kirk had gone up to the center to sign the paper. I was waiting for the phone to ring (like 10 seconds away), to start an appointment with one of my clients, when he called.
"Jenn, I can't sign this... It doesn't feel right, & the thought of signing it makes me feel sick. I don't know what to do. I need help. "
Me: "Um, WHAT? Ok. We have 2 hours till your bidding time is over, and I have a client about to call. I can't talk. Come home. We'll talk in an hour & figure this out."
An hour later... I walk out of my office, and look at him wondering what we're going to do, because we only have about an hour to make this decision & get back up to the UPS center to sign. I was sobbing.
All we could do is kneel down as a family & pray... Every single one of us had the overwhelming feeling that he needed to take a 4 night run. But how? That would cut 20% of our income. Logically, there was just no way.
He ended up calling his mom to ask her advice, & she said, "Son, there comes a point in life, when we need to realize there's a difference between having faith, & exercising faith. And I believe now is the time to exercise faith."
We all felt peace. We knew this was what we needed to do.
And so, Kirk works 4 nights/week now. Still 14 hrs/night, but he has Fridays off, and has most of Monday with us as well.
The Lord didn't give us time to think it through. He knew that because of the magnitude of this change, we would sit on it, and go back & forth 1 too many times. He made this happen in the last hour, without time to think, only time to pray. And we had to trust Him.
There were more things that happened around this that aren't coincidence. It's very clear that the Lord has His hand in this.
We have more time with Kirk now. And he has more time to work on helping me build this business to help a whole lot of people...
We can't quite see right now what's ahead of us, and it's a little nerve wracking. But we feel peace.
A few days after making this decision, an opportunity came up for us, that just happens to be during his vacation week in June. And it costs a good chunk of money, considering what we just did... But I knew when the opportunity came, that I needed to take it, because it's centered around this very change we just made, & I know that it will help bring huge clarity & open up the way for us to move forward. He doesn't even know what it is yet. Happy Anniversary, honey! You'll find out soon. ;)
The Lord puts opportunities in our path at the right time. We just have to recognize them & act. Even if it's scary.
The sea only parts, AFTER you step into the water.
The power of prayer & energy work! First, watch as this tumor literally shrinks & disappears in just a couple minutes time. This is quite possibly the most amazing thing I've ever seen. And then watch how a man pronounced dead is blessed to come back to life. The power of prayer, & the power of our thoughts & emotional healing... Don't ever underestimate them, & don't ever underestimate what God can help you do!
Do you think you're creative? I've met people who honestly think they don't have a creative bone in their body. But guess what. They're wrong. If you think you're not creative, think again. And I'm not just talking arts & crafts! That 'could' be it, but there are other avenues of creativity too. Writing, speaking, teaching, serving, building, inventing, designing... Endless possibilities.
From the moment you were born, you were creating.
Your creative pilot light is always on, even if you're not consciously, purposefully, & physically creating something... yet. It's just sitting there inside waiting to be used. Sometimes it takes a while to notice the little shining pilot light, and it patiently waits until you do notice. Creation begins with a single thought. And so from the beginning of when YOU were created, you have been creating. Congratulations! Give yourself a hand.
We create in every single aspect of our lives. Family, education, business, relationships, recreation, church, etc. We have an infinite number of creative centers in our brains. Some have never been opened & need to be, & others have, for whatever reason, been shut down & simply need opened up once again. You are a creative genius!
"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and GO DO IT. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." - Howard Thurman
Maybe you're afraid of failure. Maybe you're afraid of wasting your time or materials. Maybe you think you're not good enough. So what? Do it anyway. What's the worst that can happen?
The 15 strategies for manifesting your creative gifts that I'm about to share with you, I call the C.I.A.
Creative Intelligence in Action
#1 - Create a space for your CIA. Whatever is comfortable, beautiful, inspiring, purposeful, safe, relaxing, dreamy... If it gives you a positive sense of feeling, include it in your space.
#2 - Create time for your CIA. Even if it's 15 minutes each day. Consciously give yourself time to work on this. It is a gift.
#3 - Allow a little chaos. Maybe it's "organized chaos", but sometimes a little chaos can get the creative juices flowing. Just so long as it feels good & brings you joy. Open yourself up & don't be afraid of a little mess here & there.
#4 - Explore your options. Take a local class or an online course. Try something new, even if you don't know whether you'll enjoy it. Watch others be creative. It may inspire you.
#5 - Give yourself permission to be imperfect & just enjoy the process. My friend Meredith owns a popular blog called "Perfection Pending", & I believe that phrase fits perfectly here.
#6 - Go inside yourself. Find a quiet place each day... or week... and explore your inner self. Your mind, your body, your spirit. Pay attention to what it's telling you & how it feels. You'll be amazed at what you learn about you.
"Unless you begin to uncover yourself from the bottom of the heaping, mountainous pile of your obligations and busyness, you might not get a crack of time to cultivate your creative self." - Unknown
#7 - Allow pleasure into your life. Seek it. What makes you happy? What brings out your inner child? What do you want? What do you need? What do you desire? What do you love?
#8 - Have vision. See it in your mind. Think on it. Concentrate on it. Write it down. Say it out loud. Record it. Draw pictures of it. Like goals... when you get it out of your head & into a more concrete form, you're on your way to manifesting, creating success, & having it actually come about.
#9 - Have passion. What are you passionate about? Is it something you love? Is it something you hate? What interests you? What do you want to contribute to the world? What would you change, if you could? Get passionate about SOMETHING.
#10 - Have purpose. Everyone has a purpose in life. By combining desire, vision, & passion, you will begin to find your soul purpose in life.
#11 - Trust yourself, & trust God. If you feel fear, it's ok. Use it to your benefit with these 3 things:
Face it... Simply acknowledge the fear.
Fake it... Pretend to know what you're doing, even if you don't, & just do it anyway.
Faith it... Plant that little mustard seed, water it, & let it grow.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1 Eventually the fruits of your labors will come about, & all that fear will subside.
#12 - Repeat. Once you've unlocked your creative genius, don't stop. Practice it.
#13 - Share it. The more you share it, the more you will master it.
#14 - Shine! When you allow your light to shine, you give others permission to do the same. "A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house." Matthew 5:14 Shining has an endless ripple effect. This world needs more light. It really does.
#15 - Be grateful. Above all, be grateful for the gifts you have within you, those creative gifts you were Divinely given. Once you've unlocked your creative genius, the 2 greatest ways to show gratitude are to thank God for giving you your gifts, and to use them for the benefit of others. which in turn benefits you. I learned this past weekend at a seminar from Kevin Clayson of Gratifuel - Flipping the Gratitude Switch, that despite what Webster Dictionary says... Gratitude is actually a verb. Gratitude & faith actually go hand in hand. You can't have one without the other, & they both require action.
I've always had a passion for all things creative. Over the years I've gotten more specific with those passions. In the past, they were centered around craft projects of any kind, which I still love, but I have evolved. In addition to my first & foremost purpose of wife & mom, my creative genius (my purpose) extends beyond that even further, in helping helping & teaching others how to heal, be healthy, & create their IDEALife (Individual Divine Empowering Abundant Life).
Do you know you're purpose? Have you unlocked your creative genius? If not yet, why not start now? I'd love to hear what you discover. :)
"If we scientists can record these things, I believe with all my heart that the Lord God can keep a record of our thoughts."
The topic of how our thoughts effect our physical health (and our spirits) has been on my mind a lot the past several months. We all hear things like "quit talking so negative about yourself", "talk positive", "think happy thoughts", "if you keep saying that - eventually you're gonna believe it", "if you keep believing that - eventually it's gonna happen", etc... etc... etc...
I think there's much more truth to this than what most people realize. It transcends our limited understanding to a scientific & spiritual level both. And when our thoughts come into play, it not only effects our emotions & health positively or negatively... but it also is literally recorded in our personal record in our DNA and - (I personally believe) - in heaven.
Take a look at the 2 stories & accounts below:
Deepak Chopra, M.D., tells us in his book 'Quantum Healing' that many people still think the nerves work electronically. But in the 1970's a series of discoveries began, centering on a new class of chemicals called neuro-transmitters which transmit nerve impulses. They act as our body's communicators. Basically... the neurons of the brain can talk to the rest of the body. Neuro-transmitters race back & forth from the brain telling every organ of our emotions, memories, intuitions, dreams, desires, etc. He said that none of these events are confined to just the brain, & none of them are strictly mental, since they can be coded into chemical messages. Neuro-transmitters touch the life of every cell. Wherever a thought wants to go, these chemicals must go too. To think - is literally to practice brain chemistry, which promotes responses throughout the body. It helps fill the gap that apparently separates the ever continuing mystery of the mind and body connection.
Now for the nearly athiest scientist, Dr. W. Jerome Stowell. Though I'm not a total fan of the methods they used with the dying man in the 2nd case study, the results in both of Dr. Stowell's experiments are rather astounding. And so is his change of heart.
Dr. Stowell’s story:
“I was almost a devout atheist, I did not believe that God was any more than a conglomeration of everyone’s mind put together and the good that was there, that was God as far as I was concerned. As for the real, all-powerful God existing and loving us all, with power over everything, I did not believe that.
Then one day I had an experience that really set me thinking. I was in a large pathological laboratory where we were attempting to find the wave length of the brain. We found a channel of wave lengths, and that channel has a mach room (unit of measure) in it wherein the different wave lengths of each individual’s brain are further separated in identity more clearly than are the finger prints of each individual’s hand. This is a point we should remember: God can actually keep in heaven a record of our thoughts as individuals just as the FBI can keep a record of our fingerprints in Washington, D.C.
We wanted to make an experiment to discover what took place in the brain at the moment of transition from life to death. We chose first a lady whose family had sent her to a mental institution but who had been discharged. The doctors could find nothing wrong with her other than the fact she had cancer of the brain. This affected the balance of her body only. As far as her alertness of mind was concerned and in every other way, she was exceptionally brilliant. We knew she was on the verge of death and she was informed, in this research hospital that she was going to die.
We arranged a tiny pick-up in her room to ascertain what would take place in the transition of her brain from life to death. We also put a very small microphone, about the size of a shilling, in the room so that we could hear what she said, if she had anything to say.
Five of us hardened scientists—perhaps I was the hardest of the group—were in an adjoining room with our instruments prepared to register and record what transpired. Our device had a needle pointing to “0” in the center of the scale. To the right the scale was calibrated to 500 points positive, to the left the scale was calibrated to 500 points negative. We previously had recorded on this identical instrument the power used by a fifty-kilowatt broadcasting station in sending a message around the world. The needle then registered 9 points of the positive side.
As the last moments of this woman’s life arrived, she began to pray and praise the Lord. She asked the Lord to be merciful unto those who had despitefully used her, then she reaffirmed her faith in God, telling Him she knew He was the only power, the only living power. He always had been and always would be. She praised God and thanked Him for His power and for her knowledge of His reality. She told Him how much she loved Him.
We scientists had been so engrossed with this woman’s prayer that we had forgotten our experiment. We looked at each other and saw tears streaming down scientific faces.
Suddenly we heard a clicking sound on our forgotten instrument. We looked and the needle was registering a positive 500, desperately trying to go higher only to bounce against the 500 positive post in its attempt!
By actual instrumentation we had recorded that the brain of a woman alone and dying in communication with God had registered more than 55 times the power used by a fifty-kilowatt broadcasting station sending a message around the world.
After this we decided to try a case very unlike the first one. We chose a man lying in the research hospital stricken with a deadly social disease. His brain had become atrophied to the point of very death. He was practically a maniac.
After we had set up our instruments, we arranged for one of the nurses to antagonize the man. Through her wiles, she attracted his interest in her, and then suddenly told him she did not want to have anything more to do with him. He began to verbally abuse her, and the needle began to register on the negative side. Then he cursed her and took the name of God in vain. The needle then clicked back and forth against the 500 negative post.
By actual instrumentation we had registered what happened to the brain when that brain broke one of God’s Ten Commandments, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”
We had established by instrumentation the positive power of God and the negative power of the adversary. We had found that beneficial truth is positive, and the non-beneficial things covered by the “Thou shalt nots” of the Ten Commandments are negative.
If we scientists can record these things, I believe with all my heart that the Lord God can keep a record of our thoughts.”
Just a cool little lesson for the day.....
The definition of FEAR:
1. An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.
FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The definition of EGO:
EGO = Edging God Out
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The definition of HOPE:
1. A feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
HOPE = Holding On to Positive Expectation
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The definition of HUMILITY:
1. A quality by which a person considering his own defects has a humble opinion of himself and willingly submits himself to God and to others for God's sake. From the Latin word humilitas, it may be translated as "humble", "grounded", or "low" - since it derives from 'humus' (earth).
To let go of fear & have hope, we must become humble. We must kill our ego. Let God in. "Lower" ourselves (lowly in heart), humble ourselves, let go of our own limited perceptions and submerse ourselves in His un-limited purposes. If we allow this to take place, there IS NO NEED TO FEAR.
It's been said that shame is the lowest frequency/vibrational state you can be in. However, if you think about it, shame is merely a form of fear. I believe fear is actually the lowest frequency/vibration in existence.
Faith & fear cannot exist simultaneously. If we can focus our thoughts (even if we don't think we believe them at first) on faith & moving forward with hope, then eventually those fearful thoughts & feelings will have no choice but to fade. Often times people really struggle with focusing on the positive, especially when their lives have been full of traumatic negative experiences.
FAITH = The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb. 11: 1)
Did you catch that? Faith is a substance! It's a THING. Faith is an energy. It's HIGH FREQUENCY VIBRATION.
Some people are able to bring themselves to a place where they release fear & replace it with faith on their own. Others really struggle with this & have a more difficult time letting go, because there are subconscious beliefs that need to be released, & their conscious thinking overrides what the spirit knows as truth (That God is in control & no matter what happens... Everything will be ok.) For those who have a hard time with letting go of fear on your own, methods like SimplyHealed™ can help tremendously in allowing this process to take place. Whether you want to try the release/replace on your own without any assistance - or allow an emotional release practitioner to help you in the process, now just might be the time to embrace the idea of letting your faith be bigger than your fear, so you can more forward in your life, accomplish all you were meant to accomplish, & be who you were meant to be.
Releasing fear & being full of faith is EXTREMELY liberating & peaceful.
"When you understand that fear puts you on a frequency of attracting more fearful events and circumstances into your life, you will realize how important it is to move off that frequency. People are in fear of losing their job, paying the bills, getting sick, and the list goes on. But the fear of those things summons them to us. In every instance fear comes from thinking thoughts of what you don’t want, so the way to turn that around is to think the opposite thoughts, which are thoughts of what you do want. Keep thinking thoughts of what you want until you feel better. When you feel noticeably better, you have moved on to a different frequency."
A friend of mine posted on her Facebook page the following status:
"The most miserable people are the ones who know what they are doing wrong - but STILL DO IT!"
A big debate began, as to whether there is a "black and white" to what is right and wrong.
One person responded: "Who determines what is right & wrong? It really depends on what they are doing. Culture drives a lot of beliefs and what is right in one culture is not always right in another. You may believe one thing and someone else believes something completely different, but that doesn't make them wrong or miserable."
- - - - - - - - - -
Respectfully, I don't agree with how she responded, so I commented back with my own thoughts. Thankfully, my friend that posted the original status responded to my comment with -"Perfect!!"
Here's what I said & how I feel:
"If the source of the choice is Light, then it's right. If the source of the choice is dark, or questionable, then it's probably wrong. It doesn't matter what one person's perception of it is. To them it may "seem" right or wrong, which is based on perception. However the Laws of God & the Laws of the universe are black or white no matter what. They're unchangeable. So yes, everything is black and white. We being here on earth base what we do & think mostly on perception, because of what we've learned from birth - from others.
Perception isn't perfection. Perception is earthly & temporal. Perfection is heavenly & eternal & what we're striving for. A person who can't or chooses not to follow a simpler law (of God or the universe, either one) will be more likely to see things as gray or in the middle. If they're striving to go above & beyond to always do everything that points to light & have the desire to follow the higher laws, there's usually no question as to what is right & wrong - or black & white."
- - - - - - - - - -
I do feel though, that when something is good, there may be more than one way to do it. For example natural healing... Herbs may work best for one person, when essential oils may work best for another. Both are good, & either can be used. Another example... When we pray to Heavenly Father for something & have 2 choices, He may allow us to make the choice ourselves & not give us a direct answer on which to choose, because they're both good, and either one would benefit us. So then we choose whichever we want at that time.
And culturally, there may be different "good" things. One culture may eat a certain variety of whole foods, & another culture may choose to eat a different variety of whole foods, but they're both healthy. OR one culture may choose to dance & dress one way, while another culture chooses to dance & dress another way. And they both may be good - JUST DIFFERENT, because there is often more than one way to do something good.
But then there are those choices we make, that if they are not right... Then they are wrong. Period. No if's, and's, or but's about it. They're black & white according to the laws of nature - WHICH GOD FOLLOWS & always has. It's unchangeable.
If a person doesn't believe something is wrong, they may seem happy, or healthy, or content. But eventually - no matter what it is - if it goes against the Laws of God/Nature, the consequences will manifest.
So yes, I do believe there is always black & white, when it comes to right & wrong. In addition, if there is any question or doubt, or if there is a feeling of being unsettled about something, then get down on your knees and ask if it's right. If you receive peace, you will know it is right & in alignment with God's laws. The adversary cannot mimic peace. Peace is a most amazing gift.
I love this NASA photo. If you've never seen it before, it's called the "Helix Nebula" - or "The Eye of God. Every time I see it, I can't help but be reminded that God is in control. He sees the big picture. He knows all. He has a handle on everything. He wants us to be successful. He wants us to be happy. He wants us to heal. He knows us. He loves us.
While I don't intend this to be a religious environment, there are spiritual elements I can't ignore. I cannot have this website without publicly expressing gratitude to Him, who is my biggest supporter, the creator of this path I'm on, & the source of ALL healing & abundance.
Healing can mean being completely cured, having our burdens eased, or being given the understanding, courage, & strength needed to endure to the end. After years of scattered mental, emotional, & physical illness, and feeling hopeless, I finally laid my burdens at His feet. Today I'm still in awe of the healing, easing, understanding, & strengthening that He has given me, since the day I turned it over to Him.
Whenever I begin to lose faith, feel hopeless, or carry burden, I turn to Him for strength & continued healing, and I do my best to be grateful in all things, even when those 'things' are
really. really. hard.
I'm left speechless at the magnitude of His love, His influence, His vastness, His infinite power. I feel so tiny & insignificant in this never ending realm of existence, & yet I know that to Him... I am everything. To Him... you are everything.
I'm grateful to be an instrument in His hands, as I continue to help others in their healing journeys. I'm grateful for all of the many tangible tools for healing that He has made available to us including nutrition, holistic medicine, conventional medicine, energy work, prayer, faith, and all others.
Two questions I have been taught to ask myself in times of personal trial are these:
- Is there a potentially destructive pattern in your life?
- When discouraged do you feel overwhelmed - and in desperation seek for others to solve your problems, overlooking your own capacity to make much improvement?
(Richard G. Scott - "To Be Healed")
Whether your belief system is God, the Universe, Spirit, Intelligence, or another Higher Power, BELIEVE in your ability to heal & be abundant. The Source of Light & Love are endlessly liberating, empowering, & full of peace.
As I was writing this post today, I came across a poem written by my colleague & mentor, Marnie Pehrson. (Literally right in the middle of doing this post!) I think I was supposed to find it exactly when I did. She's given me permission to share it. I'm also including one of my favorite little 3 1/2 minute videos of all time at the end. "The Most Astounding Fact". I promise. It's worth it. More than 6 million others would say the same thing :)
Here's to you - and to me - in our journey - whatever journey that may be...
I keep going round in circles.
Will this challenge never end?
Why do my trials repeat themselves?
Not much more can I withstand!
Then I call upon the heavens.
God’s grace attends as I pray.
The lesson becomes crystal clear:
My thoughts do me betray.
I have expected to go in circles.
In my heart I did not believe
That anything could be different
And so my trials did I relive.
Now I will envision better paths
For my successful life to take.
In time I will expect the best and
A better life my thoughts will make.
For as a man thinketh
In his heart of hearts is he.
God grants according to desires.
What we expect will certainly be.
